## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DURING ENGINE OVERHAUL, THE OIL PUMP DRIVEN GEAR ASSEMBLY P/N 629218 WAS PURCHASED USED FROM VENTURA ADVENTURES ON 06/10/2015. A DETERMINATION OF GEAR CONDITION WAS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF AMERITECH INDUSTRIES, INC., DBA EAGLE ENGINES PRIOR TO INSTALLATION. EAGLE ENGINES DESIGNATED INSPECTOR "BP" EVALUATED THE GEAR AND INDICATED SERVICEABILITY ON A PARTS REQUISITION TAG DATED 06/11/2015. THE TAG REFERENCED THE GEAR PART NUMBER AND REPAIR ORDER NUMBER 19571. REPAIR ORDER REVIEW REVEALED THAT DESIGNATED INSPECTOR "BP" DID NOT ENTER A DESCRIPTION OF WORK PERFORMED SUBSEQUENT TO HIS EVALUATION OF THE DRIVEN OIL PUMP GEAR. ADDITIONALLY, IT WAS NOTED THAT DIMENSIONAL VALUES OF THE GEAR FIT IN THE OIL PUMP HOUSING WERE NOT ADDRESSED ON ANY EAGLE ENGINE FORMS NOR DID EAGLE HAVE A FORM FOR THAT INFORMATION. THE ENGINE AS ASSEMBLED AND TESTED. SUBSEQUENT TO TESTING, THE OIL FILTER WAS INSPECTED WITH NO METAL CONTAMINATION FOUND. ON 07/02/2015, THE ENGINE WAS APPROVED FOR RETURNED TO SERVICE AND INSTALLED IN N6127R ON 09/25/2015. ON 09/30/2015, THE ENGINE WAS REMOVED DUE TO A LOSS OF OIL PRESSURE ABOUT 7 HOURS AFTER OVERHAUL. DISASSEMBLY OF THE ENGINE BY PREMIER AIRCRAFT REVEALED THE DRIVEN OIL PUMP GEAR BUSING P/N 539523 HAD FAILED CAUSING AN OIL PRESSURE LOSS.

AN EVALUATION OF THIS EVENT REVEALED THAT EAGLE ENGINES SURRENDERED THEIR ENGINE CLASS RATING. EAGLE ENGINES ALSO PAID FOR THE REPAIR TO THE ENGINE BY PREMIER AIRCRAFT.

IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE GUIDANCE CONTAINED IN ORDER 8900.1 CHG 422, VOLUME 14 CHAPTER 1, SECTIONS 1 AND 2, THIS ISSUE IS CLOSED USING COMPLIANCE ACTION.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
