## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AFTER DEPARTING DEXTER MUNICIPAL AIRPORT, MO (DXE), THE AIRCRAFT RAN OUT OF FUEL APPROXIMATELY 1.5 MILES SOUTHWEST OF THE AIRPORT. THE PLANE DESCENDED AT A VERY STEEP ANGLE, STRUCK TREE BRANCHES, 8 TO 10 INCHES THICK, AND IMPACTED THE GROUND LEFT WING FIRST.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN16LA004](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN16LA004), Oct 5, 2015: Cessna 150 (N3174J), Dexter, MO, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's impairment due to the ingestion of alcohol, which impaired his decision-making and resulted in his taking off and flying the airplane until the engine lost power due to fuel exhaustion.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
