## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

MISHAP PILOT (MP) DEPARTED A PRIVATE GRAVEL STRIP AT APPROXIMATELY 1340L. WITNESSES STATED WATCHING THE MP CLIMB OUT AT A 'STEEPER THAN NORMAL' CLIMB, LEVELED OFF AT APPROXIMATELY 500' AND MADE A LEFT 270 DEGREE TURN AND FLEW OVER THE HANGAR WHERE THE WITNESSES WERE STANDING. MP DID A STEEP BANK TO THE LEFT AND PITCHED UP. WITNESS STATED "MUCH STEEPER CLIMB AND ROLL THAN I'VE EVER SEEN." AIRCRAFT APPEARED TO HAVE STALLED AND WITNESS LOST SIGHT OF IT AS IT DESCENDED BELOW THE TREES.

ENGINE WAS HEARD AT "FULL THROTTLE/RPM" WHEN IMPACT OCCURRED. AIRCRAFT WAS BURNING WHEN LOCAL HELP ARRIVED WITH FIRE BOTTLES. MP APPEARED TO BE DECEASED. THE FLAMES SPREAD TO THE LEFT FUEL TANK AND FULLY ENGULFED THE COCKPIT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC16FA001](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC16FA001), Oct 8, 2015: Cessna 150F (N7064), Big Lake, AK, substantial damage, 1 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain adequate airspeed and his exceedance of the airplane’s critical angle-of-attack while maneuvering, which resulted in a stall at too low an altitude to allow recovery.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
