## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT WAS CONDUCTING A CURRENCY LANDING FOR PRACTICE BEFORE DEPARTING HIS HOME AIRPORT. THIS WAS THE PIC'S FIRST FLIGHT IN THE PREVIOUS 12 MONTHS. WHILE LANDING, HE FAILED TO CLEAR A CATTLE GUARD AT THE LEADING EDGE OF THE RUNWAY. AIRCRAFT MAIN GEAR CAUGHT THE CATTLE GUARD CAUSING THE NOSE, SPINNER AND PROPELLER OF THE AIRCRAFT TO CONTACT THE GROUND. THE AIRCRAFT CONTINUED ROLLING FORWARD ONTO THE AIRCRAFT'S TOP SIDE WHERE IT CAME TO REST INVERTED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA16CA024](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA16CA024), Oct 24, 2015: Maule M5 (N406X), Warrentown, VA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain clearance of a cattle-guard fence on landing. Contributing to the accident was his lack of recent flying experience.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
