## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AT APPROXIMATELY 2:05 PST, PILOT DEPARTED THE FUELING STATION AND PROCEEDED TO CONDUCT 133 OPERATIONS (CHRISTMAS TREE SLINGING). AT AROUND 2:25, ON THE WAY TO THE LANDING AREA AFTER DROPPING A LOAD OF TREES, THE PILOT EXPERIENCED A REDUCTION OF POWER. HE EJECTED THE LOAD AND LONG LINE, AND ELECTED TO LAND THE HELICOPTER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

AS HELICOPTER TOUCHED DOWN, THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING AT A SLOW IDLE. THE MAIN ROTOR BLADES WERE STILL TURNING AND IMPACTED A NEARBY TREE. PILOT PROCEEDED TO SHUT DOWN THE HELICOPTER AND EXITED OUT THE PILOT SIDE DOOR.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR16LA020](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR16LA020), Nov 2, 2015: Bell 206B (N22743), Dallas, OR, substantial damage. Probable cause: A loss of engine power for reasons that could not be determined based on the available information.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
