## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON DECEMBER 3, 2015, AIRCRAFT N216PK, A PAC-750, EXPERIENCED AN ABNORMAL ENGINE INDICATION AND PERFORMED AN ENGINE-OUT GLIDE INTO 5W4 AIRPORT. IT RAN OFF THE END OF THE RUNWAY, CAUSING NO INJURIES BUT CAUSING SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.

AT 13,000?, THE PILOT OBSERVED A TORQUE READING THAT WENT INTO THE RED. HE SAID THAT THE SETTING SHOULD HAVE BEEN ABOUT 25 PSI BASED ON HIS THROTTLE POSITION, BUT WAS READING ABOUT 70 PSI. HE SAID THAT THE ENGINE DID NOT PRODUCE HIGH POWER, JUST SHOWED HIGH POWER ON THE GAGE.

THE PILOT THEN SET UP FOR A NORMAL DESCENT, BRINGING THE POWER TO IDLE AND THE FLAPS UP AND THE PROPELLER LEVER FORWARD. AT IDLE, HE SAID THE TORQUE READING WAS INTO THE 80?S (PSI) THOUGH THE ENGINE WAS NOT PRODUCING THAT EQUIVALENT POWER. HE BELIEVES THAT AT IDLE SETTING, IT WAS PRODUCING IDLE POWER, THOUGH IT WAS READING PAST THE HIGH MAXIMUM TORQUE PSI. HE SAID THAT THE ENGINE BEGAN A HEAVY VIBRATION AT IDLE WHICH WAS ACCOMPANIED BY AN ABNORMAL NOISE AND THE OVERTORQUING INDICATION.

THE PILOT STATED THAT TO PREVENT ENGINE SELF-DESTRUCT, HE SHUT DOWN THE ENGINE. AT THIS TIME HE ESTIMATES HE WAS AT 9,000?.

THE PILOT STATED THAT THE WINDS WERE APPROXIMATELY 030 DEGREES AT 12 KNOTS. HE ESTIMATES HE LANDED MIDWAY DOWN THE RUNWAY AND SAID HIS RIGHT MAIN LANDING GEAR TOUCHED FIRST. HE APPLIED HIS BRAKES AS HARD AS POSSIBLE AND CAME OFF THE END OF THE RUNWAY. THE LEFT MAIN LANDING GEAR WAS SHEARED OFF BY A STUMP BEFORE THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO A STOP.
