## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

STUDENT WAS ASSIGNED SOLO PRACTICE OF SOFT FIELD AND SHORT FIELD TAKEOFF AND LANDINGS. ON HIS FOURTH TAKEOFF HE THOUGHT THE CONTROLS WERE JAMMED SO HE TOOK HIS RIGHT FOOT OFF THE RUDDER TO APPLY PRESSURE TO THE CONTROL YOKE WITH HIS RIGHT KNEE. THAT ALLOWED THE AIRPLANE TO TURN LEFT AND DEPART THE PAVED SURFACE INTO THE GRASS. HE SHUT OFF THE ENGINE AT THAT TIME AND THE AIRPLANE STOPPED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES TO THE PILOT OR DAMAGE TO THE AIRPLANE. THE WIND WAS CALM. MAINTENANCE FOUND THE CONTROLS FREE, AND THERE WERE NO PRIOR COMPLAINTS OF STICKING OR JAMMING.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
