## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

12/18/2015 CESSNA CE-172RG, N6545V.

WHEN THE GEAR WAS EXTENDED IT FOUND THAT THE GEAR UNLOCKED LIGHT WAS LIT. BOTH MAIN GEAR WERE VISUALLY CHECKED AND APPEARED TO BE DOWN AND LOCKED. GEAR WAS RECYCLED AGAIN WITH AN UNLOCKED INDICATION STILL PRESENT. CHECKLIST WAS FOLLOWED FOR EMERGENCY (PUMPED) GEAR EXTENSION, GEAR UNLOCKED INDICATION STILL INDICATED. PIC AND DPE DECIDED TO RETURN TO KYIP AND DECLARED AN EMERGENCY WITH AN INDICATION OF GEAR UNSAFE. PIC REQUESTED A FLY BY OF CONTROL TOWER TO GET CONFIRMATION FROM GROUND/TOWER PERSONNEL OF LANDING GEAR STATUS. PIC WAS TOLD BY ATC PERSONNEL THAT THE MAIN GEAR APPEARED TO BE DOWN, BUT THE NOSE GEAR WAS NOT EXTENDED.

NOSE GEAR UP LANDING WAS PERFORMED RESULTING IN MINOR AIRCRAFT DAMAGE (NOSE GEAR DOORS AND PROP STRIKE).

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
