## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON APPROACH TO LANDING (4S1) THE AIRCRAFT'S ALTITUDE WAS LOW ENOUGH FOR THE NOSE WHEEL TO STRIKE A FENCE FOUR FEET HIGH AND 300 FEET FROM THE THRESHOLD OF RUNWAY 16. THE PILOT STATED A DOWN DRAFT CAUSED HIM TO STIKE THE FENCE. THE NOSE GEAR CASTING BROKE OFF THE ASSEMBLY AFTER LANDING AND THE AIRCRAFT FLIPPED OVER, CAUSING DAMAGE TO VERTICAL FIN, FUSELAGE AND WINGS.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA16CA122](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA16CA122), Feb 8, 2016: Cessna 175 (N6951E), Gold Beach, OR, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain an approach angle of descent to avoid obstacles, resulting in the airplane striking the airport perimeter fence.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
