## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PIC LOST CONTROL WHEN APPROACHING A HOVER. PIC STATED THAT THE ROTOR RPM WAS LOWER THAN NORMAL AND PIC STATED HE WAS UNABLE TO INCREASE RPM'S WITH THROTTLE WHEN HE ATTEMPTED TO ROLL IN MORE THROTTLE. PIC STATED HE DIVERTED HIS ATTENTION TO THE INSTRUMENT AND THEN DESCENDED AND IMPACTED THE TAXIWAY WHERE HE GOT MORE RPM BY UNLOADING THE ROTOR AND THEN OVERCORRECTED AND BOUNCED TWO TIMES BEFORE HOVERING SIDEWAYS TO THE RIGHT WHERE HE THEN IMPACTED THE DIRT AND CAUSED THE HELICOPTER TO ROLL OVER RESULTING IN AN ACCIDENT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR16LA069](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR16LA069), Feb 13, 2016: Bell 47G 3B 1 (N1181W), Carson City, NV, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain sufficient main rotor rpm, which resulted in a loss of helicopter control and a dynamic rollover.

## Other reports on N1181W (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Accident 19931115046929A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19931115046929A), Nov 15, 1993: Bell 47G3B1 (N1181W), Mesa, WA, Substantial damage. Approached landing sight excessive speed. Flared excessively. Struck tail on ground. Impacted. Rotors hit tailboom.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
