## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PIC WAS ON A PART 91 FLIGHT FROM BET TO A CABIN ON THE HOLITNA RIVER (SEE GPS COORDINATES) WITH A PASSENGER. CONDUCTED 2 "DRAGS" ON THE RIVER WITH MAIN WHEELS TOUCHING THE RIVER WHILE MAINTAINING FLYING AIRSPEED. PIC DETERMINED THE RIVER WAS UNSAFE TO LAND AND ATTEMPTED A LOW FLYOVER ABOVE A SNOW COVERED GRAVEL BAR. THE GEAR CONTACTED THE SNOW, CAUSING LOSS OF CONTROL AND THE AIRCRAFT NOSE OVER AND COME TO REST INVERTED. AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED DAMAGE TO THE PROPELLER, NOSE COWLING, WINGS, AND EMPENAGE. BOTH OCCUPANTS WERE WEARING SAFETY HARNESSES AND EGRESSED UNINJURED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC16CA014](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC16CA014), Feb 14, 2016: Cessna 180 (N2253C), Sleetmute, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's decision to make contact with an unsuitable landing surface, resulting in a nose over.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
