## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

2/22/2016 - STS - 1730 PST - M20D MOONEY - N6607U - PART 91 FLIGHT ? THE PIC EXPERIENCED A REDUCTION IN THRUST AFTER TAKEOFF AND IMMEDIATELY RETURNED TO STS LANDING WITHOUT INCIDENT.

UPON GEAR RETRACTION, THE NOSE OF THE AIRCRAFT DROPPED AND THE PROPELLER STRUCK THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT CONTINUED TO CLIMB BUT THE PIC FEELING A REDUCTION IN POWER, REQUESTED AND WAS GRANTED AN IMMEDIATE RETURN TO STS. THE AIRCRAFT LANDED WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT.

INSPECTION OF THE AIRCRAFT REVEALED DAMAGED LIMITED TO BOTH PROPELLER BLADE TIPS. FORWARD VELOCITY WAS EVIDENCED BY THE EIGHT INCHES OF AFT PROPELLER TIP CURL WHEN THE STRIKE OCCURRED. THE FIRE WALL AND NOSE GEAR SHOWED NO SIGNS OF DAMAGE AS DID THE REMAINDER OF THE AIRCRAFT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
