## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT REPORTED THAT THE HE EXPERIENCED A ROUGH RUNNING ENGINE WHILE AT CRUISE. HE ADVISED POTOMAC TRACON OF THE SITUATION WHILE RECEIVING FLIGHT FOLLOWING AND WAS DIRECTED TO THE NEAREST AIRPORT OF ESN. THE PILOT STATED THAT HE PERFORMED THE APPROACH AT HIGHER THAN NORMAL SPEED, DUE TO THE LACK OF POWER FROM THE ENGINE, AND BOUNCED ON THE RUNWAY MULTIPLE TIMES STRIKING THE PROP. BOTH PROPELLER BLADES HAD BEEN BENT OVER FROM THE STRIKE AND BEEN DISLODGED FROM THE PROP HUB. UPON INTERNAL INSPECTION OF THE ENGINE, A BROKEN VALVE WAS FOUND ON THE #4 CYLINDER. CONSULTED WITH OPERATIONS INSPECTOR FOR RECOMMENDATION. AT THIS TIME THE IIC RECOMMENDS A 44709 RE-EXAM ON EMERGENCY PROCEDURES AND LANDINGS.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
