## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

UNTIED FLIGHT 898 IAH TO MSY REPORTED TO ATC MODERATE TURBULENCE OVER LAKE CHARLES, LA AT FL270. THE WEATHER WAS A TOP A CLOUD LAYER MOSTLY CLEAR. A SHORT TIME LATER THE FLIGHT DECLARED A MEDICAL EMERGENCY. A FLIGHT ATTENDANT STANDING IN THE AFT GALLEY CUT HER HEAD AND SUFFERED A BROKEN ARM AS A RESULT OF THE TURBULENCE. SHE RECEIVED ATTENTION FROM A NURSE ON BOARD, WHO RECOMMENDED THE INJURED FLIGHT ATTENDANT REMAIN IN THE GALLEY. A DEAD HEADING FLIGHT ATTENDANT SAT IN THE JUMP SEAT FOR LANDING SO FLIGHT MAINTAINED MINIMUM FLIGHT ATTENDANT REQUIREMENT. PARAMEDICS MEET THE FLIGHT AND TRANSPORTED INJURED FLIGHT ATTENDANT TO THE HOSPITAL. I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO OBTAIN AN NTSB ACCIDENT REPORT NUMBER.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB DCA16CA181](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/DCA16CA181), Mar 15, 2016: Boeing 737 724 (N23708), Port Arthur, TX, no damage. Probable cause: an inadvertent encounter with clear air turbulence.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
