## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT IN COMMAND BEGAN TAKE OFF ROLL WITH A CROSSWIND FROM HIS LEFT. THE AIRCRAFT BEGAN DRIFTING TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY. THE PILOT RAISED THE TAIL, AND JUST AFTERWARD LOST CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT. THE LEFT WINGTIP, NOSE, AND RIGHT WINGTIP CONTACTED THE GROUND, CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO ROTATE TO THE LEFT. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST PERPENDICULAR TO THE CENTERLINE OF THE RUNWAY FACING THE LEFT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA16CA134](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA16CA134), Mar 16, 2016: Eichhorn Gary L Skyraider I (N8109E), Erwin, NC, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's inadequate compensation for the wind which resulted in a loss of directional control.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
