## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRCRAFT PROCEEDED TO TAKE OFF FROM TAXI LANE B, KNOWINGLY THERE WAS A TAIL WIND OF APPROXIMATELY UP TO 6 KNOTS. WHEN THE AIRCRAFT REACHED APPROXIMATELY 50 KNOTS THE PASSENGER NOTED THAT THE PILOT PUSHED THE YOKE FORWARD TO BRING THE TAIL UP, SHORTLY AFTER THAT PULLING THE YOKE AFT TO GET AIRBORNE. BEING AIRBORNE FOR A SHORT TIME THE AIRCRAFT EXPERIENCED A LEFT TURNING TREND, WITH LOSS OF ALTITUDE. AIRCRAFT LEFT LANDING GEAR TOUCHED FIRST THEN THE LEFT WING, BOUNCED OFF THE RUNWAY CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO CHANGE DIRECTION TO LEAVE THE RUNWAY TO THE RIGHT. THE RIGHT WING HIT THE GROUND BOUNCED OFF THE GROUND FORCING IT UP AND THE LEFT WING TO STRIKE THE GROUND AGAIN, ALONG WITH THE LEFT MAIN GEAR WHERE IT COLLAPSED. AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST AT THAT TIME ON ITS LEFT SIDE WITH THE WING BROKEN AT THE ROOT.

THIS AIRCRAFT WAS EQUIPPED WITH STOL SYSTEM AND ABLE TO MAINTAIN FLIGHT AT LOW AIRSPEEDS.

TAKE OFF TO RUNWAY TOUCHDOWN WAS 864 FEET.

FROM WHAT WE VIEWED FROM VIDEO, AIRCRAFT EXPERIENCED PILOT INDUCED GYROSCOPIC PROCESSION.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN16LA131](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN16LA131), Mar 26, 2016: Cessna 180A (N9659B), Del Rio, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s loss of directional control while departing with a gusting tailwind.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
