## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

MISHAP PILOT (MP) WAS DOING PRACTICE SHORT FIELD LANDINGS ON GRAVEL STRIP PARALLEL RUNWAY (RUNWAY 25) IN STOL EQUIPPED "SUPERSTOL" EXPERIMENTAL AIRCRAFT. HE WAS OVERLY AGRESSIVE ON HIS BRAKING ACTIONS AND AIRCRAFT FLIPPED ONTO ITS BACK. NO INJURIES SUSTAINED. SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.

MP WAS VERY FORTHCOMING WITH EVENTS LEADING UP TO AND WHY THE ACCIDENT OCCURRED. COUNSELING CONSISTED OF WAYS TO MITIGATE FUTURE RISKS TO INCLUDE UTILIZATION OF MEDALLION FOUNDATION SIMULATOR (PA 18 MOTION FTD), FLYING WITH AN INSTRUCTOR AS WELL AS SEMINARS AT UPCOMING STOL COMPETITION IN VALDEZ AK. MP WAS OPEN TO ALL SUGGESTIONS AND HAD SEVERAL "FIXES" HIMSELF.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA16CA195](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA16CA195), Apr 18, 2016: Gary A Jamieson JA30 Superstol (N826AK), Palmer, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain pitch control of the airplane during the landing touchdown, which resulted in a nose over.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
