## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRCRAFT SLOWLY LOST POWER AND PILOT MADE AN EMERGENCY LANDING IN A FIELD. AFTER THE AIRCRAFT CONTACTED THE GROUND ON AN UPHILL SLOPE IT COLLAPSED THE NOSE GEAR, FLIPPING THE AIRCRAFT OVER ON ITS BACK. TOUCHDOWN TO WHERE THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST WAS APPROXIMATELY 200 FEET.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN16LA166](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN16LA166), Apr 23, 2016: Cessna 172 (N7614X), Brimfield, IL, substantial damage. Probable cause: A loss of engine power for reasons that could not be determined, as postaccident examination of the engine did not reveal any anomalies that would have precluded normal operation.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
