## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

WHILE INSTRUCTING IN PREPARATION OF A COMMERCIAL RATING FOR THE "STUDENT" PILOT, THE CREW WAS PERFORMING LANDING GEAR EXTENSION. THEY OBSERVED A LACK OF DOWN AND SAFE INDICATION. THEY MADE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO ACHIEVE THE DOWN AND SAFE INDICATION INCLUDING MANUAL AND EMERGENCY EXTENSION WITH NO SUCCESS. THE AIRCRAFT IS EQUIPPED WITH A MIRROR AND THEY VISUALLY VERIFIED THE GEAR APPEARED TO BE IN THE PROPER POSITION.

IN LIGHT OF THE DISCREPANCY,THE CREW RETURNED TO FTW. THEY PERFORMED A FLY BY ON THE TOWER WHO ALSO CONFIRMED THE GEAR APPEARED TO BE IN THE DOWN POSITION. CREW PERFORMED A SOFT FIELD LANDING AND ROLLED OUT NORMALLY. AFTER EXITING THE RUNWAY AND JUST BEYOND THE HOLD SHORT LINE, CREW FELT THE NOSE GEAR GET "SPONGEY" AND NOTICED THE NOSE OF THE AIRCRAFT SINKING.

GEAR SLOWLY COLLAPSED WITH PROPELLER STRIKING THE GROUND. PROPELLER AND NOSE LANDING GEAR DOORS RECEIVED DAMAGE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
