## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT ATTEMPTED TO LAND AT A HIGHER AIRSPEED (85 MPH), THAN RECOMMENDED BY THE PILOTS OPERATING HANDBOOK (74 MPH). ON LANDING THE AIRCRAFT BOUNCED AT WHICH TIME THE PILOT ELECTED TO INITIATE A GO AROUND. THE PILOT APPLIED FULL POWER AND PITCHED TO APPROXIMATELY 10 DEGREE PITCH UP ATTITUDE. THE AIRCRAFT THEN BEGAN TURNING TO THE LEFT DUE TO THE LEFT TURNING TENDENCIES NORMALLY EXHIBITED DURING TAKEOFF. THE PILOT DID NOT APPLY ENOUGH RIGHT RUDDER TO COUNTERACT THE LEFT TURN CAUSING THE LEFT WING TO STRIKE THE GROUND WHICH RESULTED IN THE AIRCRAFT DEPARTING THE RUNWAY TOWARD THE WEST SIDE OF THE AIRPORT. THE AIRCRAFT STRUCK A WOODEN PRIVACY FENCE AT A RESIDENCE LOCATED AT 6300 DOUGLAS ST. ,ON AIRPARK DALLAS (F69) AND CAME TO REST IN THE BACKYARD OF THE RESIDENCE. THE DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT WAS SUBSTANTIAL. THE AIRCRAFT PILOT AND PASSENGER RECEIVED MINOR INJURIES. BOTH WERE TREATED ON SCENE BY EMS PERSONNEL. NEITHER OCCUPANT REQUIRED HOSPITALIZATION.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA16CA218](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA16CA218), May 1, 2016: Mooney M20 (N3386X), Plano, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain directional control during the aborted landing in gusty wind conditions, which resulted in a collision with a fence.

## Other reports on N3386X (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Accident 19830322008459A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19830322008459A), Mar 22, 1983: Mooney M20F (N3386X), Springfield, MO, Substantial damage. Landing gear collapsed turning onto a taxiway after landing. Pilot failed to ascertain manual gear handle locked.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
