## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT IS A STUDENT FROM THE REPUBLIC OF CHINA: THE NARRATION AS WRITTEN BY A THIRD PARTY: AIRCRAFT FLARED WITH EXCESSIVE SPEED, IMPACTED THE RUNWAY WITH MAIN GEAR AND ENTERED A PORPOISE LANDING BREAKING THE NOSE STRUT ON THE 3RD OR 4TH OSCILLATION. AIRCRAFT DEPARTED THE RUNWAY TO THE RIGHT AND CAME TO REST APPROXIMATELY 75 FEET OFF THE RUNWAY.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA16CA219](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA16CA219), May 2, 2016: Cessna 172 (N509ND), Mesa, AZ, substantial damage. Probable cause: The student pilot's failure to maintain pitch control during the landing flare, which resulted in an abnormal runway contact, porpoise, nose gear collapse, runway excursion, and impact with terrain.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
