## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

WHILE LANDING ON RUNWAY 18 THE PILOT FAILED TO TOUCH DOWN ON THE CENTERLINE OF THE RUNWAY. THE PILOT LANDED RIGHT OF THE CENTERLINE. AS THE PILOT TOUCHED DOWN SHE FAILED TO FLARE AND CAUSED THE NOSEWHEEL TO TOUCH DOWN WHILE IT WAS POSITIONED TO THE LEFT DUE TO HER CRAB ANGLE. THE PILOT REPORTED SHE WAS UNABLE TO MAINTAIN DIRECTIONAL CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT AND DEPARTED THE LEFT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY INTO THE GRASS. TIRE TRACKS INDICATE THAT THE AIRPLANE'S LEFT MAIN WHEEL WAS NOT IN CONTACT WITH THE RUNWAY PUTTING THE AIRCRAFT IN A RIGHT WING LOW POSITION. THERE WERE MARKS IN THE GRASS WHERE THE RIGHT WING TIP LEADING EDGE WAS DRAGGING THROUGH THE GROUND. THE NOSEWHEEL STRUCK A SMALL CONCRETE SLAB NEXT TO A RUNWAY EDGE LIGHT CAUSING FURTHER DAMAGE TO THE NOSEWHEEL. THE NOSEWHEEL HIT A SMALL MOUND OF DIRT CAUSING A NOSE UP ATTITUDE. THE AIRCRAFT THEN PITCHED NOSE DOWN CAUSING THE PROPELLER HUB AND PROPELLER TO IMPACT THE GROUND, BENDING THE BLADES AND DENTING THE PROPELLER HUB. ONCE THE NOSE AND PROPELLERS STRUCK THE GROUND THE AIRCRAFT MADE A 180 DEGREE PIVOT CAUSING SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE LEFT WING AND STRIKING THE TAIL SECTION. THE LEFT WING WAS PUSHED INTO THE FUSELAGE. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST PERPENDICULAR TO THE RUNWAY. PILOT STATED SHE WENT THROUGH THE EMERGENCY CHECKLIST AND EVACUATED THE AIRCRAFT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA16CA223](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA16CA223), May 6, 2016: Cessna T206 (N917CF), Jasper, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain pitch control during the landing flare, which resulted in abnormal runway contact, a nose wheel landing gear collapse, and runway excursion.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
