## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AT 2330, THE ACFT DEPARTED KGEU, PERFORMED A TOUCH AND GO BACK TO KGEU AT 2337 AND CRASHED AT 2354 WITH THE BEGINNING OF THE EVENT OCCURRING AROUND 2347 AT 3,800 MSL (APRX 2,600 AGL).

POST-ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION REVEALED THE ATTACHING HARDWARE CONNECTING THE LINKAGE BETWEEN THE CARBURETOR AND THE THROTTLE CONTROL WAS NOT INTACT. HARDWARE CONSISTENT WITH THE REQUIRED LINKAGE ATTACHING HARDWARE (BOLT AND CASTELLATED NUT, NO COTTER PIN) WAS FOUND IN THE ENGINE COWLING DURING POST-CRASH INVESTIGATION. NO OTHER TECHNICAL OR OPERATIONAL FACTORS WERE IDENTIFIED DURING THE POST-CRASH INVESTIGATION.

DURING AN INTERVIEW WITH THE CERTIFICATED AIRMAN THAT RETURNED THE ACFT TO SERVICE, POST CARBURETOR INSTALLATION, THE AIRMEN STATED THAT WHILE HE HAS ASSISTANCE FROM A NON-CERTIFICATED PERSON, HE HAD VISUALLY CONFIRMED THAT CARBURETOR ATTACHMENTS, INCLUDING THE COTTER PIN WERE INSTALLED/CONNECTED AS PART OF THE CARBURETOR INSTALLATION.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR16FA102](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR16FA102), May 7, 2016: Beech G35 (N4401D), Surprise, AZ, substantial damage, 1 fatal. Probable cause: The mechanic's failure to properly secure the bolt connecting the throttle cable to the carburetor during the installation of the carburetor, which resulted in a loss of engine power.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
