## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON THE DATE OF THE ACCIDENT THE PILOT IN COMMAND WAS CONDUCTING A FLIGHT REVIEW FOR THE SECOND PILOT IN THE AIRCRAFT. THE PIC WAS SEATED IN THE REAR SEAT OF THE TANDEM AIRCRAFT AND THE PILOT RECEIVING THE FLIGHT REVIEW WAS SEATED IN THE FRONT. THE AIRCRAFT DEPARTED FROM NASHUA, NH AND NAVIGATED TO KEENE, NH AFTER COMPLETION OF MANEUVERS AND AIR WORK. AT KEENE THE AIRCRAFT MADE MULTIPLE, UNEVENTFUL LANDINGS AND TAKE-OFFS ON RUNWAY 02 WITH THE PILOT IN THE FRONT AT THE CONTROLS.

ON THE FOURTH LANDING ATTEMPT, JUST PRIOR TO TOUCHDOWN ON THE RUNWAY, THE FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR, SEATED IN THE REAR OF THE AIRCRAFT, STATED THAT HE "SAW A DEER ON THE RUNWAY IN FRONT OF THE AIRCRAFT AND VERBALLY NOTIFIED THE PILOT IN THE FRONT, WHO WAS AT THE CONTROLS. THE PILOT REACTED BY APPLYING FULL POWER AND ATTEMPTING TO GO AROUND FROM THE LANDING, BUT IN THE PROCESS IMPACTED THE DEER AND THE RUNWAY. THE DEER BECAME TRAPPED BETWEEN THE RIGHT WING AND THE RIGHT MAIN LANDING GEAR, CAUSING THE RIGHT WINGTIP TO DRAG ON THE RUNWAY" FOR APPROXIMATELY 50 FEET. THE AIRCRAFT EXITED THE EASTERN SIDE OF THE RUNWAY, AT WHICH TIME THE DEER BECAME DISLODGED FROM THE RIGHT MAIN LANDING GEAR. THE AIRCRAFT CONTINUED INTO THE GRASS EAST OF THE RUNWAY AND TRAVELED 300 FEET BEFORE OVERTURNING AND COMING TO REST INVERTED. WHILE TRAVELING OVER THE GRASS AREA, THE RIGHT WINGTIP IMPACTED THE GROUND AND THE PROPELLER MADE CONTACT WITH THE GROUND NUMEROUS TIMES OVER DISTANCE OF 50 FEET.

AFTER THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST, THE PILOT AND FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR EXITED THE AIRCRAFT WITH MINOR INJURIES.

THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE FUSELAGE FORWARD OF THE LEADING EDGE OF THE RIGHT WING. THERE WAS ADDITIONAL, NON-SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO BOTH WING TIPS, THE VERTICAL STABILIZER, THE MAIN LANDING GEAR, THE CANOPY AND THE PROPELLER AND SPINNER.
