## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON MAY 13, 2016 A PIPER PA-28-181 DEPARTED CRYSTAL RIVER, FL AIRPORT (KCGC) ON RUNWAY 28 TO COMPLETE THE SECOND LEG OF A STUDENT SOLO CROSS COUNTRY FLIGHT. DURING THE TAKEOFF ROLL, THE STUDENT PILOT LOST DIRECTIONAL CONTROL AND DRIFTED TO THE LEFT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY, STRIKING A CONCRETE RUNWAY LIGHT PAD. THE IMPACT SHEARED THE NOSE GEAR ASSEMBLY FROM THE AIRCRAFT AND COLLAPSED THE RIGHT MAIN LANDING GEAR. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST UPRIGHT IN A RETENTION POND APPROXIMATELY 100 FEET ADJACENT TO THE RUNWAY. THE PILOT SUSTAINED NO INJURY. THE AIRCRAFT SUFFERED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE.
