## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

WHILE ENROUTE FROM PTV TO MIT, AIRCRAFT LOST ENGINE POWER AFTER SWITCHING FROM RIGHT WING FUEL TANK TO THE LEFT WING FUEL TANK. THE PILOT ATTEMPTED TO LAND AT THE DLO BUT DUE TO THE LACK OF AIRCRAFT ENGINE POWER, THE AIRCRAFT LANDED .5 MILE SOUTH OF RWY 32. AIRCRAFT WAS DESTROYED ON IMPACT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR16LA113](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR16LA113), May 14, 2016: Beech C23 (N3724Y), Delano, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The student pilot’s inadequate preflight and inflight fuel planning, which resulted in a total loss of engine power due to fuel exhaustion.

## Other reports on N3724Y (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19820803046449I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19820803046449I), Aug 3, 1982: Beech C23 (N3724Y), Mineola, TX, Minor damage. Student bounced and porpoised on landing during a cross country flight.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
