## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AFTER A NORMAL 3/4 HOUR FLIGHT THE AIRCRAFT LANDED AT MYF. NO SIGN OF ENGINE ROUGHNESS OVERHEATING OR ANYTHING OUT OF NORMAL OPERATION. UPON EXITING THE RUNWAY WITH ENGINE AT 1000 RPM THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN AND THE AIRCRAFT COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE TAXI WAY. PILOT INFORMED GROUND CONTROL AND ATTEMPTED TO A RESTART THE ENGINE. THE ENGINE CRANKED BUT IT NEVER RESTARTED. UPON SEEING GREY SMOKE RISE FROM THE COWLING THE PILOT SHUT OFF THE FUEL AND ELECTRICAL POWER AND EXITED THE AIRCRAFT. NEAR BY WITNESS HAD ALREADY BROUGHT OVER A FIRE EXTINGUISHER WHICH WAS USED TO PUT OUT THE FIRE. AIRCRAFT TOWED TO PARKING AREA.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
