## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT REPORTED A ROUGH RUNNING ENGINE DURING CLIMB OUT FROM KANKAKEE, IL AND DIVERTED TO GARY, IN. HE LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT AND NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED. MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL REMOVED THE ENGINE COWLING AND FOUND THE NUMBER 6 CYLINDER HEAD WAS SEPARATED FROM THE BARREL. THE CYLINDER WAS REMOVED FOR FURTHER INSPECTION. THE CYLINDER HAD MULTIPLE CRACKS EMANATING FROM THE SPARK PLUG HOLE TO THE VALVES AND AROUND THE CYLINDER HEAD. THE BARREL AND THE HEAD WERE COMPLETELY SEPARATED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
