## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

06-10-2016, AIRMAN DEPARTED SUNRISE BEACH (2KL) ENROUTE TO LLANO MUNICIPAL AIRPORT(AQO) AND CONDUCTED SEVERAL TOUCH-AND-GO LANDINGS. FOLLOWING THIS THE AIRCRAFT RETURNED TO SUNRISE BEACH FOR A FULL-STOP LANDING. FOLLOWING A NORMAL APPROACH TO A SOFT FIELD, THE AIRCRAFT TOUCHED DOWN ON THE MAIN LANDING GEAR. WHEN THE NOSE WHEEL WAS LOWERED TO THE GROUND IT SANK INTO THE SOD TO THE DEPTH OF THE WHEEL SKIRT. FOLLOWING A SHORT DISTANCE ON ALL THREE WHEELS THE NOSE WHEEL SANK INTO THE SOD, COMING TO AN ABRUPT STOP. THE TAIL OF THE AIRCRAFT PITCHED OVER AND THE AIRPLANE CAME TO REST INVERTED AND FACING THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION.

THERE WAS NO ABNORMAL INDICATION IN THE RUNWAY GRASS FROM THE MAIN LANDING GEAR.

THE NOSE WHEEL SANK INTO THE SOD, AT LEAST TO THE BOTTOM OF THE WHEEL SKIRT, DIGGING A SMALL CONTINUOUS TRENCH. THIS IS DUE TO THE COMBINATION OF NOSE WHEEL WEIGHT AND SOFTNESS/SATURATION OF THE SOD IN THAT AREA.

WHEN THE NOSE WHEEL CAME UPON AN AREA THAT WAS EVEN MORE SOFT/SATURATED, IT SANK EVEN DEEPER INTO THE SOD. THE AIRCRAFT SPEED WAS SUCH THAT THE MOMENTUM CARRIED IT TAIL-OVER TO COME TO REST INVERTED AND FACING 180 DEGREES FROM THE LANDING DIRECTION.

THE PORTION OF THE RUNWAY WHERE THE AIRCRAFT FLIPPED APPEARS TO BE A SLIGHT DEPRESSION AND WAS THUS MORE WATER-SATURATED THAN THE TOUCHDOWN AREA.

THERE WAS NO POST-CRASH FIRE, NOR HAZMAT SPILL.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

Probable cause: The nosewheel fairing becoming packed with debris during landing on the soft field due to a gap between the nosewheel tire and the fairing, which resulted in a loss of control and subsequent…
