## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE AIRCRAFT CLIPPED THE TREES OFF THE LEFT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY ABOUT 360 YARDS FROM THE BEGINNING OF THE RUNWAY AT ABOUT 70 DEGREES OFF OF RUNWAY HEADING. THE AIRCRAFT CONTINUED THROUGH THE TREES FOR ABOUT 150 FEET AND CAME TO REST UPSIDE DOWN GOING DOWN A HILL WITH AN AIRCRAFT HEADING OF 200°. THE LEFT WING WAS SHEARED OFF WHEN IT CAME IN CONTACT WITH A TREE. ENGINE MOUNTS BROKE ON IMPACT AND THE ENGINE WAS SEPARATED FROM THE FIREWALL APPROXIMATELY 1.5 FEET.

FLIGHT CONTROL CONTINUITY WAS VERIFIED DURING WRECKAGE INSPECTION. THE FUEL SELECTOR WAS IN THE LEFT POSITION. THE IGNITION WAS ON AND THE CARB HEAT WAS OFF. THE THROTTLE AND MIXTURE WERE IN THE FULL ON/RICH POSITIONS, ALTHOUGH THIS COULD HAVE BEEN FROM THE ENGINE SEPARATING FROM THE AIRCRAFT. THE FUEL PUMP SWITCH WAS ON AND THE FLAPS WERE AT THE FIRST NOTCH (10 DEGREES). ALL SPARK PLUGS WERE INSPECTED AND FOUND TO BE IN NORMAL CONDITION. BOTH MAGNETOS WERE CHECK AND FOUND TO BE IN PROPER WORKING ORDER.

## NTSB investigation

None matched to this report by aircraft and date. Search the NTSB's own records: https://data.ntsb.gov/carol-main-public/basic-search

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
