## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PIC ELECTED TO CONDUCT TRAINING OF TWO STUDENTS ON THE SAME FLIGHT. THE STUDENT IN THE LEFT SEAT WAS PRACTICING FOR A COMMERCIAL CHECK RIDE, WHILE THE STUDENT IN THE RIGHT SEAT WAS RECEIVING INSTRUCTION ON HOW TO GIVE INSTRUCTION. THE PIC ELECTED TO SIT IN THE BACK SEAT FEELING THERE SHOULDN'T BE A PROBLEM WITH THE STUDENT INSTRUCTOR DUE TO HIS EXPERIENCE.

THE COMMERCIAL STUDENT (LEFT SEAT) WAS PRACTICING A SIMULATED ENGINE FIRE FOLLOWED BY A STEEP SPIRAL EMERGENCY DESCENT TO AN EMERGENCY LANDING. DURING THE DESCENT, THE CREW APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN DISTRACTED BY TWO MILITARY HELICOPTERS TRANSITIONING THROUGH THE AREA. THE COMMERCIAL STUDENT HAD A MINOR AMOUNT OF POWER APPLIED CANCELLING THE GEAR WARNING HORN. THE PIC IN THE BACK SEAT COULD NOT SEE CLEARLY THE GEAR HANDLE AND RECOGNIZED THE GEAR UP SITUATION AND CALLED FOR A GO AROUND TO LATE TO PREVENT RUNWAY CONTACT. AIRCRAFT LANDED ON THE RUNWAY WITH MINOR DAMAGE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
