## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON SUNDAY MORNING, JUNE 19, 2016 DURING THE THURSTON CLASSIC BALLOON EVENT, ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WAS COMING INTO LAND AT THE TARGET FIELD WHEN HE LOST CONTROL OF HIS BALLOON. THE BALLOON CLIMBED AND DESCENDED RAPIDLY TOUCHING THE TOPS OF TREES AND THEN LANDING IN A NEARBY NEIGHBORS YARD. THE BALLOON EXPERIENCED A HARD LANDING, NO OCCUPANTS WERE INJURED. THE BALLOON SUSTAINED MINOR BURN DAMAGE TO THE NOMEX THROAT PORTION, AND THE SEVERAL PANELS OF THE MAIN CANOPY.

THIS INCIDENT OCCURED DURING THE THURSTON CLASSIC BALLOON EVENT LOCATED IN MEADVILLE, PA.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
