## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRCRAFT DEPARTED KSUS FOR KHOU. WHILE BEING VECTORED FOR HOBBY AIRPORT THE PILOT REPORTED THAT HE WAS UNFAMILIAR WITH THE AREA. THE PILOT THEN DECLARED AND EMERGENCY SAYING HE HAD LOST ALL POWER TO THE ENGINE. PILOT DROPPED OFF RADAR AND RADIO CONTACT WAS LOST. PILOT MADE AN EMERGENCY LANDING ON TOP OF A LARGE DISTRIBUTION CENTER BUILDING APPROXIMATLY 6NM ON THE 330 DEGREE RADIAL FROM HOU VOR. THE MAIN LANDING GEAR MADE CONTACT WITH THE EDGE OF THE BUILDING WHICH ASSISTED IN SLOWING THE AIRCRAFT EVEN MORE. THE AIRCRAFT TRAVELED APPROXIMATELY 20 FEET MAKING A 180 DEGREE CLOCKWISE SKIDDING TURN AND CAME TO REST. THERE WAS NO POST IMPACT FIRE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN16LA225](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN16LA225), Jun 20, 2016: Piper PA 24 (N5661R), Houston, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: The total loss of engine power due to fuel exhaustion.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
