## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON JUNE 19, 2016, ABOUT 2000 CENTRAL TIME, A PIPER PA-28R-200, N9336N, WHILE ON APPROACH TO OF2 (BOWIE MUNICIPAL AIRPORT, TX), LOST THROTTLE CONTROL AND LANDED IN A NEARBY FIED. THE PILOT AND TWO PASSENGERS WERE NOT INJURED, BUT THE UNEVEN-TERRAIN LANDING CAUSED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE RIGHT MAIN WING STRUCTURE. THE THROTTLE PUSH-PULL ROD AT THE THROTTLE CONTROL ARM, (LEFT SIDE), WAS OBSERVED AS DISCONNECTED. VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS PREVAILED AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

Probable cause: The inadequate maintenance and inspection of the throttle control arm, which resulted in its in-flight separation and the subsequent loss of engine power.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
