## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON JUNE 20, 2016 AIRCRAFT N1299J DEPARTED KSQI, AT ABOUT 1000 AM CDT, ENROUTE TO HOMEBASE KJZP. AT ABOUT 1242 PM EDT, AIRCRAFT IMPACTED TERRAIN ON PRIVATELY OWNED CATTLE RANCH IN DAYTON TENNESSEE. THE AIRCRAFT DESCENDED THROUGH A SMALL SECTION OF WOODS, WHICH SEVERED BOTH WINGS AND TAIL. THE AIRCRAFT THEN ROTATED 180 DEGREES COMING TO REST ON ITS LEFT SIDE. THE AIRCRAFT WAS A 1975 ROCKWELL 112A, OWNED BY PILOT SINCE SEPTEMBER 2004.

PILOT STATED THAT HE WAS CRUISING AT 055 FEET WHEN HE HEARD A POPPING SOUND FOLLOWED BY ENGINE FAILURE. HE THEN MADE SEVERAL UNSUCCESSFUL ATTEMPTS TO RESTART THE ENGINE. PILOT STATED THAT HE TURNED OFF FUEL PUMP AND BOTH MAGNETOS. THE PILOT DOES NOT RECALL ANYTHING BEYOND THIS POINT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA16LA226](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA16LA226), Jun 20, 2016: Rockwell International 112A (N1299J), Dayton, TN, substantial damage. Probable cause: A total loss of engine power due to the failure of the engine-driven fuel pump.

## Other reports on N1299J (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19781228020219I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19781228020219I), Dec 28, 1978: Rkwell 112 (N1299J), Omaha, NE, Minor damage. Gear collapsed after rollout. The system was low on hydraulic fluid.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
