## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON JUNE 29, 2016 AT APPROXIMATELY 17:46 HRS, THE PILOT OF N53AE, A BELL HELICOPTER BHT-206-L1 DEPARTED (SPI) TO RETURN TO AIR EVAC BASE WILLIAMSON COUNTY (MWA). SHORTLY AFTER TAKE OFF THE PILOT HEARD A GRINDING AND SQUEELING NOISE FROM THE ENGINE AREA OF THE HELICOPTER. THE PILOT PERFORMED A PRECAUTIONARY LANDING IN A FIELD 3 MILES SOUTH OF SPRINGFIELD, IL (SPI). THE PILOT OBSERVED HYDRAULIC FLUID ON SIDE OF THE AIRCRAFT DURING POST LANDING INSPECTION.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
