## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

N8237Z WAS ATTEMPTING TAKEOFF FROM THE N30 AIRPORT AT APPROXIMATELY 1730 LOCAL TIME FROM RUNWAY 36. HE HAD HIMSELF AND FAMILY ON BOARD WHICH INCLUDED HIS SPOUSE AND TWO CHILDREN. THE PILOT STATED THAT HE REACHED ABOUT 65 KNOTS AND ROTATED BUT IMMEDIATELY REALIZED HE WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO CLEAR THE TREES AT THE END OF THE RUNWAY. HE ABORTED THE TAKEOFF AFTER BECOMING AIRBORN VERY BRIEFLY, NO MORE THAN A FEW FEET. DURING THIS PROCESS HE DEPARTED THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY AND SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED THE AIRCRAFT IN THE PROCESS. THERE WERE NO INJURIES TO THE OCCUPANTS OF THE AIRCRAFT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

Probable cause: The pilot's inadequate preflight planning, which resulted in his attempt to take off near the airplane’s maximum gross weight in high-density altitude conditions that degraded the airplane’s takeoff…

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
