## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRCRAFT LOST ENGINE POWER CLIMBING FROM 4500 FEET TO 6000 FEET.

CABIN STARTED TO FILL WITH SMOKE.

DURING LANDING ON HIGHWAY, PILOT NOTICED POWERLINE ACROSS THE ROAD. PILOT NOSED AIRCRAFT OVER TO AVOID POWERLINES. AIRCRAFT LEVELED OFF JUST BEFORE IMPACT AND THE LANDING GEAR COLLAPSED DUE TO HARD LANDING.

NUMBER 4 CYLINDER ROD HAD BROKE AND PUNCTURED THE CASE HALVES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA16LA272](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA16LA272), Jul 6, 2016: Harrity William V Glasair (SH2F) (N67WH), Maynardville, TN, substantial damage. Probable cause: The in-flight failure of the No. 3 cylinder connecting rod for reasons that could not be determined during postaccident examination.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
