## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON JULY 14, 2016 AT APPROXIMATELY 1930 LOCAL TIME, AIRCRAFT N4714H AN EXPERIMENTAL/AMATEUR-BUILT PITTS S1-S LANDED ON RUNWAY 1 AT FAYETTE COUNTY AIRPORT(KFYE). THE PILOT IN CHARGE (PIC) ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ STATED UPON A NORMAL LANDING THE AIRCRAFT SWERVED A LITTLE; HE TAPPED ON THE RUDDER PEDAL TO CORRECT THE SWERVE. AFTER CORRECTING THE INITIAL SWERVE, THE AIRCRAFT BEGAN TO SWERVE BACK AND FORTH. THE PIC WAS NOT ABLE TO KEEP THE AIRCRAFT ALIGNED ON THE CENTER LINE OF THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT LEFT THE HARD SURFACE OF THE RUNWAY AND WENT INTO THE GRASS. THE LEFT WING HIT THE GROUND AND THE AIRCRAFT NOSED UP. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST ABOUT 6-8 FEET FROM THE RUNWAY. THE LEFT MAIN LANDING GEAR SEPARATED FROM THE AIRCRAFT, CAUSING THE LEFT WING TO IMPACT THE GROUND, THE LEFT WING WAS DAMAGED. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE AFT SPAR WAS CRACKED. THE FRONT SPAR SEPARATED AT ONE OF THE RIBS. THE PROP SUFFERED SOME DAMAGE. THE PILOT SUFFERED NO INJURIES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
