## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AT APPROX. 2000 HRS ON 7/19/16, THE PILOT ATTEMPTED TO TAKE OFF TO THE NORTH FROM A GRASS COVERED PRIVATE RUNWAY ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^. DURING TAKE OFF, THE PILOT ADVISED THE PARACHUTE DID NOT FULLY INFLATE. AS THE AIRCRAFT BEGAN TO CLIMB, APPROX 10 TO 20 FEET FROM THE GROUND, THE PARTIALLY INFLATED PARACHUTE PULLED THE AIRCRAFT TO THE RIGHT. THE AIRCRAFT WAS UNABLE TO CONTINUE TO CLIMB DUE TO THE LOSS OF LIFT FROM THE FAILED PARACHUTE. THE AIRCRAFT FELL TO THE GROUND AND CAME TO REST IN A GRASS FIELD APPROX 50 FEET FROM THE END OF THE GRASS RUNWAY. THE PILOT INDICATED NO MECHANICAL DEFECTS OR FAILURES OF THE ENGINE OR AIRFRAME PLAYED A ROLE IN THE CRASH SEQUENCE. CONTACT DAMAGE TO THE PROPELLER BLADES AND THE ALUMINIUM TUBULAR STRUCTURE SURROUNDING THE PROPELLER APPEARED TO BE CAUSED BY STRIKING THE GROUND. THE COCKPIT AREA AS WELL AS THE TRICYCLE LANDING GEAR, APPEARED TO BE INTACT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
