## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

WHILE CONDUCTION TRAINING OF AUTO-ROTATION WITH A TURN, TAIL STRIKER HIT RUNWAY SURFACE AFTER POWER RECOVERY. THE OPERATOR LINED UP FOR A 180 DEGREE AUTO-ROTATION ON RWY 30 AT 115 KIAS AND 1000 FEET AGL, POWER RECOVERY WAS INITIATED AT APOX. 220 FEET AGL TO FULL T THROTTLE, AND POWER RECOVERY WAS COMPLETE. THE PILOT THEN BEGAN DECELERATING THE AIRCRAFT AT 125 FEET. AT AROUND 25 FEET. THE PILOT BEGAN TO LEVEL THE AIRCRAFT WITH INCREASED COLLECTIVE. AT APOX. 15 FEET AGL THE ROTOR RPM DROPPED, THE PILOT NOTICED UN-COMMENDED YAW AND COULDN'T ARREST THE DECENT RATE WITH INCREASED COLLECTIVE. THE IMMEDIATELY SUSPECTED SETTLING WITH POWER AND AT THAT TIME THE PILOT QUICKLY LOWERED THE COLLECTIVE, CORRECTED THE YAW AND LEVELED THE AIRCRAFT. AT ABOUT FIVE FEET AGL THE DECENT WAS STOPPED AND CAME TO REST IN A THREE FOOT HOVER. NONE OF PEOPLE ON BOARD NOTICE THAT THE HELICOPTER TAIL STINGER HIT THE GROUND CAUSING DAMAGE TO A FAIRING.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
