## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

FLIGHT WAS PLANNED AND FLOWN AS A AGRICULTURE OPERATION. PILOT BECAME DISTRACTED WITH A GPS SATELLITE LOCK ISSUE. PILOT STATED AIRCRAFT STARTED TO IMPACT THE TOPS OF THE CORN STOCKS. PILOT WAS UNABLE TO RECOVER AND AIRCRAFT IMPACTED THE GROUND, LANDED UPSIDE DOWN, AND SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE. PILOT EGRESSED THE AIRCRAFT WITH NO INJURIES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA16CA399](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA16CA399), Jul 27, 2016: Air Tractor AT 301 (N7311X), Bird Island, MN, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's diverted attention inside the cockpit and failure to maintain the airplane's altitude while maneuvering at a low altitude, resulting in an impact with terrain.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
