## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DURING LEVEL FLIGHT, ENGINE THROTTLE CONTROL CABLE CAME APART CAUSING THROTTLE TO BE STUCK AT 25'' MANIFOLD PRESSURE. PILOT WAS UNABLE TO DECEND WITHOUT OVERSPEEDING ENGINE AND ROTOR. PILOT APPLIED CARBURETOR HEAT AND SHUT OFF ONE MAGNETO TO REDUCE POWER AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. PILOT SLIPPED HELICOPTER AND MADE STEEP TURNS TO REDUCE ALTITUDE. AT 150 FEET AGL PILOT TURNED OFF IGNITION AND EXECUTED AN AUTO ROTATION LANDING ON RUNWAY 9. HELICOPTER LANDED HARD CAUSING MAIN ROTOR TO CONTACT TAIL BOOM DAMAGING BOTH.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN16LA294](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN16LA294), Jul 30, 2016: Bell 47G 2 (N975BH), Oshkosh, WI, substantial damage. Probable cause: The loosening and separation of the throttle linkage nut, which resulted in a loss of throttle control and subsequent hard landing after autorotation.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
