## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT STATED THAT WINDS WERE GUSTY WITH RAIN SHOWERS IN THE VICINITY OF M72. HE STATED THAT IT FELT AS IF THE WINDS JUST STOPPED, AND THE AIRCRAFT LOST LIFT. TOUCHDOWN POINT WAS APPROXIMATELY 1500 TO 2000 FEET BEYOND APPROACH END OF THE RUNWAY. PILOT STATED THAT HE HAD PURCHASED THE AIRCRAFT LESS THAN A YEAR AGO, AND HAD ONLY FLOWN IT THREE TIMES. HE ALSO STATED THAT IT HAD BEEN "SEVERAL YEARS" SINCE THE LAST TIME HE FLEW. THE AIRCRAFT STRUCK THE RUNWAY NOSE GEAR FIRST AS EVIDENCED BY THE MARKS LEFT ON THE RUNWAY. THE FRONT AXLE WAS BROKEN, AND THE NOSE TIRE AND RIM ASSEMBLY SEPARATED FROM THE NOSE STRUT. THE AIRCRAFT CONTINUED TO SLIDE ON THE NOSE STRUT FORKS UNTIL THE FIXED NOSE STRUT BROKE AND BENT TOWARDS THE REAR OF THE AIRCRAFT. UPON FAA INSPECTION OF THE AIRCRAFT, CLASSIFICATION WAS DETERMINED TO AN ACCIDENT DUE TO SIGNIFICANT STRUCTURAL DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFTS FIREWALL DUE TO IMPACT. THE PILOT DID NOT PROVIDE HIS FLIGHT LOGBOOK DURING INITIAL MEETING WITH THE FAA. DURING AN INTERVIEW WITH THE PILOT WHEN THE DATE OF HIS LAST REGULATORY CHECKRIDE WAS ASKED FOR, HE STATED THAT HE DID NOT HAVE ONE.
