## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AFTER LANDING AND ENGINE SHUT DOWN, ATTEMPT TO PARK ON SHORELINE FAILED DUE TO HIGHER THAN ANTICIPATED WINDS PUSHED THE AIRCRAFT OUT AWAY FROM SHORE BEFORE THE PILOT WAS ABLE TO SECURE THE AIRCRAFT. ENGINE START ATTEMPT RESULTED IN AN ENGINE FIRE. EXTINGUISHER WAS USED BUT WENT DRY BEFORE THE FIRE WAS COMPLETELY OUT, FLIGHT SERVICE WAS NOTIFIED DUE TO THE PROXIMITY OF THE AIRCRAFT ON THE LAKE (MIDDLE). AIRPORT MAINTENANCE PERSONELL LAUNCHED A BOAT WITH A FIRE EXTINGUISHER TO FINISH PUTTING OUT THE FIRE AND PULLED THE AIRCRAFT TO SHORE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
