## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRCRAFT WAS ON APPROACH TO RUNWAY 9. AT APPROXIMATELY 150 FEET FROM THE END OF THE RUNWAY, AND APPROXIMATELY 50 FEET TO THE LEFT OF THE EDGE OF THE RUNWAY THE AIRCRAFT STUCK TWO TREES, THEN CONTACTED THE GROUND, BREAKING OFF THE NOSE LANDING GEAR. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST FACING NORTH, APPROXIMATELY 20 FEET TO THE LEFT AND 10 FEET FROM THE END OF THE RUNWAY. THE PILOT SUSTAINED ONLY MINOR INJURIES, AND EXITED THE AIRCRAFT THROUGH THE LEFT SIDE ENTRY DOOR. PILOT STATED THAT THERE WAS NO MECHANICAL PROBLEMS WITH THE AIRCRAFT, AND THAT HE TAKES FULL RESPONSIBILITY.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA16CA413](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA16CA413), Aug 3, 2016: Cessna 172 (N84371), Cross Keys, NJ, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain lateral bank control during final approach, which resulted with an impact with a tree and substantial damage to the left and right wings.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
