## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

A PIPER PA-44 AIRCRAFT OPERATED BY AEROSIM ACADEMY, REPORTED A BIRD STRIKE AFTER JOINING THE DOWNWIND PATTERN FOR 27R. AT APPROXIMATELY 1000? FEET, A BIRD STRUCK THE NOSE OF THE AIRCRAFT. THE REMAINS BOUNCED AWAY FROM THE AIRCRAFT AND, THE CREW NOTIFIED THE SANFORD TOWER WITH THEIR INTENTIONS AND LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT. A THOROUGH INSPECTION WAS COMPLETED WITH NO DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT OR INJURIES TO THE CREW. AN FAA FORM 5200-7 IS BEING COMPLETED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
