## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT REPORTS THAT WHILE PERFORMING BANNER TOW OPERATIONS, HE WENT TO DROP THE BANNER AND FOUND THAT IT WAS NOT PROPERLY HOOKED, (HUNG). THIS PREVENTED THE BANNER FROM BEING JETTISONED. AS PART OF THEIR NORMAL PROCEDURES, HE TRAVELLED TO WWD SO AS TO LAND ON THE RUNWAY AND HAVE A GROUND CREW MEET HIM TO UNHOOK THE BANNER. JUST PRIOR TO TOUCH DOWN, SLIGHTLY ABOVE STALL SPEED, THE PILOT REPORTS THAT THE BANNER GOT CAUGHT UP ON SOMETHING IN THE FIELD PRIOR TO THE RUNWAY WHICH PULLED THE AIRCRAFT DOWN CAUSING A FIRM LANDING. THE RIGHT MAIN GEAR SUPPORTS WERE BENT AND THE PROPELLER STRUCK THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT WAS ABLE TO EXIT THE RUNWAY AND STOPPED ON THE GRASS BETWEEN A TAXIWAY AND THE RUNWAY.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
