## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE 14 CFR PART 91 INSTRUCTIONAL FLIGHT ORIGINATED FROM THE AIRCRAFT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ STUDENT?S RESIDENCE IN RURAL HOWE, TEXAS. THE INSTRUCTOR REDUCED ENGINE POWER TO SIMULATE AN ENGINE-OUT CONDITION TO PRACTICE A ?FORCED LANDING? TRAINING MANEUVER. THE AIRCRAFT WAS AT 1100 TO 1200 FEET ABOVE GROUND LEVEL (AGL). THE ENGINE REACHED IDLE SPEED AND CEASED PRODUCING POWER. AN AUTOROTATION WAS PERFORMED INTO A TALL-GRASS FIELD. AS THE AIRCRAFT REACHED 300 FEET AGL, THE STUDENT PUSHED FORWARD ON THE CYCLIC IN ORDER TO GAIN AIRSPEED. HOWEVER, IN DOING SO, THE ROTOR LOST ENERGY AND THE AIRCRAFT DROPPED TO THE GROUND WITH LITTLE TO NO FORWARD MOTION. THE STUDENT STATED THAT THE INSTRUCTOR NEVER TOUCHED THE CONTROLS DURING THIS EVENT.
