## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON AUGUST 17 2016, THE PILOT OF THE HELICOPTER, A ROBINSON R-66, STATED HE FLEW OVER THE INDIANTOWN AIRPORT AND CAME AROUND TO DO A LOW APPROACH TO A HOVER ON THE GRASS RUNWAY. THE PILOT NOTICED HE WAS DESCENDING FASTER THAN NORMAL. HE ADDED MORE COLLECTIVE TO SLOW THE DESCENT BUT NOTICED IT WAS NOT SLOWING DOWN ENOUGH. HE MADE CONTACT WITH THE GROUND CAUSING THE SKIDS TO SPREAD. THERE WERE NO INJURIES TO HIMSELF OR ANY PROPERTY DAMAGE. THE HELICOPTER SUSTAINED MINOR DAMAGE TO BOTH SKIDS AND DAMAGE TO THE TAIL BOOM SECTION JUST AFT OF BOTH ANTENNAS BUT FORWARD OF WHERE THE REGISTRATION NUMBER IS AFFIXED TO THE AIRCRAFT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
